Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a nonprofit organization that creates peaceful solutions to potentially violent conflict. I have participated in this live changing project for the last 21 years. Our work at Breathing Space uses AVP ideals as a core to the formation of our community.

The presentation will be on the landscape and developments related to Raise the Age, Raise the Bar, Raise the Youth (BABY), a juvenile justice system initiative that seeks to 1) end the practice of trying, sentencing and incarcerating youth under the age of 18 as adults in New York’s criminal justice system and 2) reset the goals and purpose of the juvenile justice system. Raise the Bar is the community education, engagement and empowerment arm of the initiative. See attachments, please RSVP.
